Car Dealers – Buying Cars For Families

Car dealers come in all personalities and it is a matter of finding a personality that works for you.  In my family we will refer to some salesmen as slick Willy’s.  This means one who is polished, unflustered and can somehow turn each sentence into a sales pitch.  I am sure you all recognize the type I am talking about.  Some are very good and that is type I want to deal with.

Just think if you have more than one child, it is a good bet that over the years you will be buying more than one car.  I prefer to do business with someone that I have a degree of trust with and have built up a relationship.  My daughter may need a car and I believe in being prepared and thorough.  This means that I will start thinking about the whole process a good year in advance.  I am still now sure how I want to proceed.

The options I have been tossing around are letting my daughter use my car as I work from home and do not have the need for a car all the time.  Yet, I have this little pit of anxiety in my stomach thinking of not having a vehicle at my disposal.  I tend to be spontaneous and need the security of having a vehicle to just pick up and go when I want.  But, then the money factor plays a big role.  It would be cheaper to not visit Car Dealers and just compromise on the usage of my vehicle.  I just envision an endless round of finding no gas in the car and forking out money to fill the tank every time I use the car.  Teenagers can be sloppy and I do not want them eating in my car or using the floor as a garbage can.  This potentially could be a situation that ends up escalating to arguing and all over the condition the car was left.  I am not sure that I want to go this route.

Can you see how my mind works?  I think of every situation from all angles which enables me to make a decision I can live with.  I have a minivan and my daughter really does not want to be seen driving this car.  If push comes to shove she will have to endure the embarrassment if she really wants to have a vehicle to drive.
