Used Porsche Buying
Porsche are famous for incredibly engineering and their unique, iconic design. Over the past 40 years or so, the design of the cars they make has changed very little. Whilst this might make continuing the company’s legacy an easy, it certainly makes looking for a used Porsche trickier than you’d expect. With very little changing that noticeably on the outside from year to year, the potential buyer of a used Porsche has to know exactly what’s inside the car, or under the bonnet, to be able to judge accurately the condition of the car they are looking at. Tough job right?
Certainly when it comes to buying a used Porsche, there are deals to be had here and there. But as with buying any used car, extra care has to be taken to ensure you know exactly what it is you’re buying before signing the dotted lines – nobody wants any nasty surprises in this day and age. In fact, it is arguable that motorists considering buying a used Porsche ought to be more careful than usual – Porsche’s cars roll off of the production line has finely balanced, high performance machines. After a few years worth of a use and abuse, is the car really still as finely balanced as you’d like it to be?
However, like I said, there are deals to be had out there. Most used Porsche buyers will be considering purchasing themselves the famous Porsche Boxster. As Porsche’s entry level high performance sports car, the model has been a huge hit since its introduction a number of years ago. The design and the engineering of the car itself has undergone a number of revisions and fine tunings over the years, so be sure to do your homework and suss out how far along the development line the particular model your interested in is. With new prices starting upwards of £35,000, buying a Porsche Boxster is certainly a hefty investment. But for £25,000, you could buy yourself a three year old top of the range Boxter, with 28,000 miles on the clock. Not bad right?
Another huge hit with Porsche’s fan base has been the sizeable Cayenne. Owned by celebrities, footballers and families alike, the Cayenne has found itself all sorts of homes. As a used car buyer, this means that it’s anyone’s guess as to how the particular model you’re interested in has been treated in the past. Full service histories, as with all Porsche’s, are a huge plus point. Brand new, one of these will set you back a hefty £41,000. A two year old model with 3,000 miles on the clock could cost you closer to £38,000, whilst an slightly older four year old model with 40,000 miles on the clock could cost around £30,000….so there’s plenty to be thinking about!
