Car buyers can now find dozens of upscale features in the affordable, economical Vauxhall Astra. The New Astra offers an elegant exterior, comfortable interior, a choice of engines, and impressive safety features. The Astra combines ease-of-handling with a quiet ride, power, and efficiency.
Astra comes in a hatchback design with a choice of five trim levels. Its coupe-like look gives the car a sleek, impressive style. Sculpted rear light units and a blade motif add to the elegance of the car’s exterior. Chrome accents give the New Astra a polished, upscale feel. The compact, aerodynamic exterior belies the Astra’s roomy, attractive interior. With grained surfaces, textured panels, and chrome trim elements it has a rich look and feel. The car’s storage was designed using customer feedback and has been redesigned to provide conveniences like a hard-shelled sun-glass case above the door opening on the driver’s side, coin slots and pen holders moulded into the glove box lid, and two removable glove box compartments. There is also a second mini-glove box. The centre console can accommodate nine CD cases, while cup holders, an MP3 connection, and under seat storage provide more luxurious touches.
Astra has been engineered to offer state-of-the art safety features, such as dual-front seat belt pre-tensioners, which go over the shoulder and across the occupant’s lap. They are pyrotechnically activated and restrain forward body movement in the event of severe impact. Other standard safety equipment includes two front airbags and two side airbags. A pair of roof rail-mounted airbags are included and three-point seatbelts are installed for rear seat passengers. When airbags are deployed, hazard warning lights come on, doors unlock, interior lights illuminate. Ventilating fans and fuel pump are turned off. The New Astra also offers other safety features, including the pedestrian area light which, is activated at speeds up to 20 m.p.h. in areas such as pedestrian crossings. An adverse weather light is provided and causes the headlamps to increase in intensity.
